One of the 24 character strengths
Holding beliefs that shape how you live. These questions ask about religious belief, and about whether life has a point.
Spirituality is the strength of holding beliefs about meaning and purpose that genuinely shape how somebody lives. The shaping is the part that counts.
A belief that changes nothing about a week is not what this measures. What it looks for is the version that decides how time gets spent, how a hard year gets handled, and what somebody thinks the point of any of it is.
Where it shows most clearly is in the difficult stretches. Somebody who leads here has somewhere to put a bereavement or a serious illness, and that place does real work rather than being a thing they say.

A frame that explains everything can explain away a thing that needed acting on. Somebody who leads here can accept a situation that was changeable, and can find it genuinely hard to talk about any of this with people who do not share the ground it stands on.
It gets read as certainty. Plenty of people who lead here hold a great deal of doubt at the same time, and the doubt does not subtract from the strength. What is being measured is whether the belief does work, not whether it is untroubled.
These particular questions ask about religious faith and practice specifically, rather than about meaning or purpose in general. Somebody with a strong sense of purpose and no religion will place lower here than the name on it suggests.
Both are about how somebody holds the future. Hope expects things to work out and acts on it; Spirituality is about what the whole of it is understood to mean.
Both involve stopping to take account of something larger than the day. Gratitude counts what arrived; Spirituality is about the frame the counting happens inside.
Everybody has all 24 of these. A result puts them in order within one person, so a strength near the bottom of somebody's list is one they reach for less often rather than one they are missing.
That also means nothing here compares one person with another. There is no reference sample behind these scales, and an order made of somebody's own answers cannot say where they stand next to anybody.
