The framing that governs every report selfwyse produces — individual, shared, and group.
SelfWyse is built to help you reflect and talk — not to diagnose, treat, or predict any medical, psychological, or mental health condition. If something here brings up more than you expected, reach out to a licensed therapist or counselor. Most of our assessments use public-domain questions from the International Personality Item Pool. The Enneagram is a pilot: we wrote those questions ourselves, and we're still measuring how well they work. Not intended for employment, medical, legal, or other high-stakes decisions.
This is the version that appears on every assessment and report page. The rest of this page is the same commitment stated at length.
SelfWyse’s assessments, individual reports, and paired or circle reports are self-report tools built for reflection and conversation. They are not medical devices, psychological tests administered or interpreted by a licensed professional, or diagnostic instruments.
Nothing produced by SelfWyse should be read as a diagnosis, a prediction of future behavior or relationship outcomes, or a substitute for evaluation, treatment, or care from a licensed therapist, counselor, physician, or other qualified professional.
Results reflect how you answered a specific set of questions at a specific point in time. They are not intended for, and should not be used for, employment decisions — including hiring, promotion, or performance evaluation — medical or mental health treatment decisions, legal proceedings, or other decisions with significant consequences for you or anyone else.
When a report includes more than one person, differences between people’s results are described as differences — not as compatibility scores, verdicts, or rankings. A paired or circle report is a starting point for a conversation between the people in it, not a conclusion about any of them.
Circles are for personal, voluntary participation among people you choose. They are not for evaluating coworkers, assessing a team, or making hiring or performance decisions. If you’re considering using a circle to assess or compare people at work, that’s a different use case than what this product is built or licensed for.
It depends on the assessment, so this is worth two paragraphs rather than one confident sentence.
Big Five, 24 Strengths, and Emotional Style use questions from the International Personality Item Pool, a public-domain bank that researchers have used and published on for decades. We use them unmodified, which means the published reliability figures apply to the exact questions we ask rather than to something similar.
The Enneagram is different, and we’d rather say so here than let you find out later. Every well-known Enneagram questionnaire is private property, questions included, so we wrote our own set instead of licensing one. The nine patterns underneath are the shared ones every Enneagram test works from, but the questions are ours, and we are still measuring how accurately they point to each pattern. Until those figures exist, we don’t call this one validated — it is marked a pilot on its own page and on every report it produces.
Ranges and band labels differ the same way. Big Five ranges are calibrated against a public reference sample of 695,290 people, so a range tells you roughly where you sit compared with others, not compared with SelfWyse’s own users. The other three have no reference sample: Emotional Style ranges describe how you answered on the 1–5 scale, and 24 Strengths and the Enneagram put your own results in order against each other rather than against other people.
