One of the 24 character strengths
Being the same person in private as in public. Keeping your word, and not shading the truth to make a moment easier.
Honesty is the strength of being one person rather than two. Not only telling the truth, but being the same in a room where it would be easier not to be.
The visible half is not shading things. No rounding a number toward the answer somebody wants, no letting a wrong impression stand because correcting it would be awkward, no version of the story that makes the teller look better.
The larger half is invisible, and it is what the strength rests on. Somebody who leads here keeps what they said they would do when nobody would ever find out they had not, which is where most of the work of it happens.

Truth arrives whether or not the moment can take it. Somebody who leads here can hand a person an accurate answer at the exact hour they needed something else, and be surprised at the reaction. It also makes them tiring to work near when a small social fiction would have cost nothing.
It gets confused with bluntness, which is a different thing and often the opposite. Saying every true thing that occurs to somebody is not this strength. The strength is that whatever gets said is true, and it says nothing about how much has to be said.
Everybody has all 24 of these. A result puts them in order within one person, so a strength near the bottom of somebody's list is one they reach for less often rather than one they are missing.
That also means nothing here compares one person with another. There is no reference sample behind these scales, and an order made of somebody's own answers cannot say where they stand next to anybody.
